The concept of strategic planning Strategic planning is long-term planning, and this planning takes into account all external and internal variables and identifies all target segments and sectors in addition to methods of competition. ¹ This planning answers the question of where we are going, taking into account the future vision of the organization and the relationships of integration and connection between all aspects of this organization, in addition to the various activities it carries out and the relationship between the organization and its surrounding environment. ¹ This type of planning is considered one of the basic components of strategic management and depends on foresight of the organization's future situation, and then working to prepare for it. ²

The importance of strategic planning

One of the advantages of strategic planning is that it works to clarify the general goals of the initiative, which results in the emergence of numerous plans in the field of work and management, which form the general goal that governs all resulting decisions. This planning also unifies the goal of the employees to achieve the goals to be reached.

The importance of this planning, which is different from traditional planning, lies in the following: ³

§  Providing the initiative with the purpose and goal it seeks to achieve.

§  Providing officials with a mechanism to think generally about this initiative.

§  It provides the initiative with all expectations regarding changes in the surrounding environment, and how to adapt to these changes.

§  Help allocate all available resources.

§  Contribute to increasing awareness among members about the winds of change, and familiarity with all surrounding threats and opportunities.

§  Providing sound logic in the process of evaluating budgets.

§  Organizing the sequencing process in all planning efforts across all administrative levels.

§  Work to make the manager innovative and creative, in addition to his initiative in creating events and not receiving them.

§  Working to clarify the image of the institution to all stakeholders and interests.

Features of strategic planning The most important features of strategic planning: ⁴

Strategic planning is considered an integrated system that takes place in common steps. It determines the initiative's future path, including the initiative's mission, goals, and the steps necessary to achieve this, in addition to identifying all efforts directed in the process of allocating resources. Through this planning, the areas that will characterize the initiative in the future are identified, in addition to identifying all activities and work related to the initiative in the future.

Strategic planning is a response to all the strengths and weaknesses in the way the initiative is performed, in addition to all the environmental threats and opportunities available in it, to develop and develop the areas of competition and excellence available to the initiative in the future.

Strategic planning is a method of working at all levels, as it works to identify and distinguish the contributions and functions of each level separately. This planning determines the developmental, charitable and social benefits and returns of the initiative
